     Patrick Oliphant, 1st/6th Lord Oliphant was the son of John Oliphant, Master of Oliphant and Lilias Gray.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Cheyne, daughter of Patrick Cheyne, 8th of Essilmont and Christian Hepburn of Smeaton.2 He married, secondly, Margaret Menzies, daughter of Gilbert Menzies of Pitfoddels.2 He married, thirdly, Mary Crichton, daughter of James Crichton of Frendraught and Lady Elizabeth Gordon, on 26 December 1643.2 He died before 16 May 1674.2
     Anna, daughter and heir of line of the 5th Lord Oliphant, disputed succession with Patrick as heir male, with the outcome a new grant of the peerage to Patrick.2 He was styled as Master of Oliphant between 1603 and 1630.2 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Oliphant [S., 1464] in 1630.2 He was created 1st Lord Oliphant [Scotland] in 1633.2
