     Sir John Makgill, 10th Bt. was born on 6 February 1836.2 He was the son of George Makgill and Harriet Strettell.2 He married Margaret Isabella Haldane, daughter of Robert Haldane and Jane Makgill, on 18 April 1866.1 He died on 14 November 1906 at age 70.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Engineers.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] on 21 September 1878, de jure.1 He succeeded as the 10th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] on 21 September 1878, de jure.2 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] on 21 September 1878, de jure.3 He succeeded to Kemback and Fingask but sold them.2

     Anna Spread was the daughter of John Spread and Anastatia Earbury.2 She married Reverend Freeman Crofts, son of Wills Crofts and Eleanor Freeman, in August 1781.1 She died in 1827.2
     From August 1781, her married name became Crofts.2

     Reverend Freeman Crofts was born on 11 August 1748.1 He was the son of Wills Crofts and Eleanor Freeman.2 He married Anna Spread, daughter of John Spread and Anastatia Earbury, in August 1781.2 He died on 20 July 1817 at age 68.1
