     James Grierson was born on 1 November 1755.2 He was the son of James Grierson of Dalgoner and Janet Agnes Brodie.1 He married Helen Morrison.1 He died on 27 February 1845 at age 89 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, EnglandG.3 He was also reported to have died on 17 March 1848 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, EnglandG.2 His will (dated 4 July 1834) was proven (by probate) on 1 August 1846, for £43,376.3
     His last will was dated 4 July 1834.2
