     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Life Guards.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 PSA.1 He founded the Gregory Scholarship and endowed a library at Harrow School.1 He lived at Coole, County Galway, Ireland.1
