     Alice Dudley Coats was the daughter of Sir James Coats, 1st Bt. and Sarah Ann Auchincloss.² She married Theodore Frelinghuysen, son of Hon. Frederick Frelinghuysen, on 25 August 1885.¹ She died on 2 March 1889, leaving issue.¹
     From 25 August 1885, her married name became Frelinghuysen.

     Hon. Frederick Frelinghuysen held the office of Secretary of State [U.S.].¹

     Theodore Frelinghuysen is the son of Hon. Frederick Frelinghuysen.² He married Alice Dudley Coats, daughter of Sir James Coats, 1st Bt. and Sarah Ann Auchincloss, on 25 August 1885.¹
     He lived at Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Reverend Charles Boutell was born in 1812.² He married Mary Chevallier, daughter of Reverend John Chevallier and Caroline Hepburn.¹ He died in 1877.²
     He was a heraldic writer.¹

     Charles Henri Adam was member of Conseil General de Basse Alsace.¹ He lived at Marmoutiers, Alsace, France^G.¹

     Marie Jeanne Augustine Adam was the daughter of Charles Henri Adam.² She married Sir James Coats, 1st Bt., son of Sir Peter Coats and Gloranna McKenzie, on 19 September 1889.¹ She died on 22 January 1940.¹
     She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.)¹ From 19 September 1889, her married name became Coats.¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1920.¹

     Mary Chevallier was born in 1809.² She was the daughter of Reverend John Chevallier and Caroline Hepburn.^1,3 She married Reverend Charles Boutell.¹ She died in 1880.²
     Her married name became Boutell.¹

     Reverend John Chevallier was born in 1774.² He was the son of Reverend Temple Chevallier and Mary Syer Fiske.² He was baptised on 30 August 1774 at Aspall, Suffolk, England.³ He married, firstly, Caroline Hepburn, daughter of Captain George Hepburn, in 1808.^4,3 He married, secondly, Emily Syer after 1815.⁴ He married, thirdly, Elizabeth Cole, daughter of John Cole, after 1819.⁴ He died in 1846.²
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ Circa 1825 he grew a strain of barley which became Chevallier barley used for breweing.² He lived at Aspall Hall, Suffolk, England^G.⁵

     Thomas Greenlees lived at Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Jane Muir Greenlees was the daughter of Thomas Greenlees.² She married Sir Stuart Auchincloss Coats, 2nd Bt., son of Sir James Coats, 1st Bt. and Sarah Ann Auchincloss, on 8 September 1891.¹ She died on 23 January 1958.¹
     From 8 September 1891, her married name became Coats.
