     Margaret Douglas is the daughter of Sir James Douglas.¹ She married, firstly, William Grierson of Barquhar, son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray, circa 26 June 1654 at Mouswald, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.^1,2 She married, secondly, John Grierson of Dalskairth after 1661.¹
     From circa 26 June 1654, her married name became Grierson.¹ She was living in 1670.²

     Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. was born in 1657 at Barquhar, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² He was the son of William Grierson of Barquhar and Margaret Douglas.³ He married Lady Henrietta Douglas, daughter of James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Queensberry and Lady Margaret Stewart, circa 21 September 1676.^4,2 He died on 31 December 1733 at Turnpike House, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.⁵ He was buried at Old Dunscore Parish Cemetery, Dunscore, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G, Note that this stone was placed in 1897, and is likely a memorial rather than the actual burial site.²
     Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. also went by the nick-name of ‘Auld Lag’.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire [Scotland] between 1678 and 1686.⁴ He was created 1st Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [Nova Scotia] on 25 March 1685, with special remainder to his heirs male whatsoever.¹ In April 1685 he presided at the trial and execution for refusing to take the adjuration oath of two women known as ‘the Wigtown martyrs.⁴‘ In 1696 he was arrested for ‘false coining.²‘ He held the office of Steward of Kirkcudbright.⁴

     James Grierson of Larglanglie was born circa 1630.² He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray.¹ He married Margaret Corsane, daughter of John Corsane, on 6 November 1666.^1,2 He died in March 1671.²
     He was ancestor of the Griersons of Baldonell.¹

     John Corsane lived at Meikleknox, Scotland^G.¹

     Margaret Corsane was the daughter of John Corsane.¹ She married James Grierson of Larglanglie, son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray, on 6 November 1666.^1,2 She died after January 1690.²
     From 6 November 1666, her married name became Grierson.¹

     Lady Henrietta Douglas was born in 1657 at Sanquhar Castle, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.² She was the daughter of James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Queensberry and Lady Margaret Stewart.¹ She married Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt., son of William Grierson of Barquhar and Margaret Douglas, circa 21 September 1676.^1,2 She died on 15 April 1736 at Turnpike House, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.²
     From circa 21 September 1676, her married name became Grierson.¹

     Clement Michael Charles Royds lived at Armthwaite, Cumbria, England^G.¹

     Sir William Grierson of Lag, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1677 at Rockall, Collin, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. and Lady Henrietta Douglas.¹ He married Ann Musgrave, daughter of Sir Richard Musgrave, 2nd Bt. and Dorothy James, on 29 August 1720 at Carlisle, Northumberland, England^G.^1,2 He died in 1760, without issue.¹
     He was a Commissioner of Supply in 1704.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries-shire [Scotland] from 1709 to February 1711.¹ In 1715 he joined the Uprising, and was captured. He was pardoned in 1724.¹ He was disinherited by his father, and did not inherit his estates.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 15 April 1736.¹
