     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.² He was educated at Freiburg University of Mining and Technology, Freiburg, Sachsen, Germany.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey.² He graduated from Columbia University, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A.^G, with a Engineering Diploma.²

     Sir Frederic Samuel Philipson Philipson-Stow, 1st Bt. was born on 28 September 1849.² He is the son of Frederic Stow and Fanny Sanders.² He married Florence Henchman Hewitt, daughter of Henry Hewitt, on 22 December 1874.² He died on 17 May 1908 at age 58.²
     He was given the name of Frederic Samuel Stow at birth.² On 28 February 1891 his name was legally changed to Frederic Samuel Philipson-Stow by royal licence.² He was created 1st Baronet Philipson-Stow, of Lodsworth, Sussex [U.K.] on 26 July 1907.² He lived at Blackdown House, Lodsworth, Sussex, England.² He lived at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.²
