George Hay Dawkins-Pennant1

George Hay Dawkins-Pennant was born in 1764.2 He was the son of Colonel Henry Dawkins and Lady Juliana Colyear.2 He married, firstly, Hon. Sophia Maria Maude, daughter of Cornwallis Maude, 1st Viscount Hawarden and Mary Allen, on 25 June 1807 at Hawarden, County Tipperary, IrelandG.3 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Bouverie, daughter of Hon. William Henry Bouverie and Lady Bridget Douglas, on 4 May 1814.4 He died on 17 December 1840.5
He was given the name of George Hay Dawkins at birth.4 He lived at Penrhyn Castle, Caernarvonshire, WalesG.5 In 1808 his name was legally changed to George Hay Dawkins-Pennant on succceeding to the estates of his father’s cousin, Richard, Lord Penrhyn.4 He inherited the Penrhyn estates from his great-uncle Richard Pennant, 1st and last Baron Penrhyn, of Penrhyn, co. Louth.5
