He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Stewart, of Corsewell [N.S., 1627] on 26 September 1690.4 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Galloway [S., 1623] on 26 September 1690.4 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Garlies [S., 1607] on 26 September 1690.4 He held the office of a Commissioner of the Treasury [Scotland] from 1705 to 1706.4 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1706.2

George Lockhart, 2nd of Carnwath1 
He lived at Carnwarth, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He fought in the Jacobite Rising in 1715.4 He wrote the book The Lockhart Papers otherwise Memoirs of Scotland (an account of the 1715 Rising.)4 He also had three sons and five daughters who died without issue.4

Robert Dalzell, 5th Earl of Carnwath1 
He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Dalzell [N.S., 1666] in March 1689.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Carnwath [S., 1639] on 7 June 1702.1 He succeeded as the 6th Lord Dalzell [S., 1628] on 7 June 1702.1 He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Battle of Preston on 14 November 1715, for the Jacobites, and was taken prisoner.1 On 19 January 1715/16 he was impeached, sentenced to death and attainted. Later, his execution was first respited, then remitted.1
