     Sydney Elizabeth Courtauld was born on 24 August 1902.3 She was the daughter of Samuel Courtauld.1 She married Richard Austen Butler, Baron Butler of Saffron Walden, son of Sir Montagu Sherard Dawes Butler and Anne Gertrude Smith, in April 1926.4 She died on 9 December 1954 at age 52.5,4
     From April 1926, her married name became Butler.1

     Rt. Hon. Sir Adam Courtauld Butler was born on 11 October 1931.2 He was the son of Richard Austen Butler, Baron Butler of Saffron Walden and Sydney Elizabeth Courtauld.3 He married Felicity Sybil Molesworth-St. Aubyn, daughter of Guy Kemyel Molesworth-St. Aubyn and Catherine Hargreaves, on 21 October 1955.1 He died on 9 January 2008 at age 76.4
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Canada between 1954 and 1955.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.2 He was director of Aristoc Ltd in 1966.2 He was director of Contour Hosiery Ltd in 1968.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) in 1979.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1
