     George Smith was born on 28 April 1833.¹ He was the son of Adam Smith and Isabella Anderson.¹ He married, firstly, Janet Colquhoun Adam, daughter of Robert Adam, on 11 December 1855.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Agnes Macintosh, daughter of William Macintosh and Mary Walker, in 1890.² He died on 24 December 1919 at age 86.¹
     He was educated at Edinburgh High School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He was principal in 1855 at Doveton College, Calcutta, India.¹ He was Fellow and Examiner between 1856 and 1877 at University of Calcutta, Calcutta, India.¹ He was Indian correspondent of The Times between 1859 and 1874.¹ He was editor of the Friend of India.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1878.¹ He graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)¹

     Adam Smith was born on 8 March 1809.¹ He was the son of George Smith and Robina Wise.¹ He married Isabella Anderson, daughter of William Anderson, on 30 August 1830.¹ He died on 28 July 1858 at age 49.¹
     He lived at Lillyside, Leith, East Lothian, Scotland.¹

     From 30 August 1830, her married name became Smith.¹

     William Anderson lived at Kingsbarns, Fife, Scotland.¹

     Janet Colquhoun Adam was the daughter of Robert Adam.¹ She married George Smith, son of Adam Smith and Isabella Anderson, on 11 December 1855.¹ She died on 1 April 1888.¹
     From 11 December 1855, her married name became Smith.¹

     Robert Adam is the son of James Adam and Janet Duffus.¹
