     Violet Dorothea Cecil was the daughter of Lord Francis Horace Pierrepont Cecil and Edith Brooks.^1,2 She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. Oswald Henry Ames, son of Lt.-Col. Lionel Ames, on 5 September 1901.¹ She married, secondly, Sir Maurice Bromley-Wilson, 7th Bt., son of Sir Henry Bromley, 5th Bt. and Adela Augusta Richards, on 1 September 1942.¹ She died on 2 February 1953.¹
     From 5 September 1901, her married name became Ames. From 1 September 1942, her married name became Bromley-Wilson.¹

     Lt.-Col. Oswald Henry Ames was the son of Lt.-Col. Lionel Ames.² He married Violet Dorothea Cecil, daughter of Lord Francis Horace Pierrepont Cecil and Edith Brooks, on 5 September 1901.¹ He died on 6 November 1927.²
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 2nd Life Guards.² He lived at Dunsfold Hall, Dunsfold, Surrey, England^G.²

     Lt.-Col. Lionel Ames is the son of Levi Ames.
     He lived at The Hyde, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹

     Edith Brooks was the daughter of Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, 1st and last Bt. and Jane Elizabeth Orrell.² She married, firstly, Lord Francis Horace Pierrepont Cecil, son of William Alleyne Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Exeter and Lady Georgina Sophia Pakenham, on 14 October 1874.² She married, secondly, Admiral Philip Francis Tillard, son of Richard Henry Tillard and Anna Cotterill, on 26 April 1892.² She died on 9 May 1923.²
     From 14 October 1874, her married name became Cecil. From 26 April 1892, her married name became Tillard.¹

     Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, 1st and last Bt. was born on 30 September 1819.¹ He was the son of Samuel Brooks and Margaret Hall.² He married, firstly, Jane Elizabeth Orrell, daughter of Ralph Orrell, on 25 July 1842.¹ He married, secondly, Jane Davidson, daughter of Colonel Sir David Davidson, on 5 November 1879.² He died on 9 June 1900 at age 80, without male issue.²
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lancashire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Aberdeenshire.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for East Cheshire between 1869 and 1885.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Altrincham between 1886 and 1892.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Brooks [U.K.] on 4 March 1886.¹ On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.¹

     Admiral Philip Francis Tillard was born on 17 September 1852.² He was the son of Richard Henry Tillard and Anna Cotterill.³ He married Edith Brooks, daughter of Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, 1st and last Bt. and Jane Elizabeth Orrell, on 26 April 1892.¹ He died on 23 February 1933 at age 80.¹
     He lived at Alford House, Somerset, England^G.⁴

     Laura Mary Dunsmuir was born on 3 July 1884 at Departure Bay, British Columbia, Canada.² She was the daughter of Hon. James Dunsmuir and Laura Miller Surles.^1,3 She married Rear-Admiral Sir Arthur Bromley, 8th Bt., son of Sir Henry Bromley, 5th Bt. and Adela Augusta Richards, on 24 June 1904.¹ She died on 19 September 1959 at age 75.¹
     Her married name became Bromley.

     George B. Ramirez de Arellano married Caroline Margaret Bromley, daughter of Maurice David Bromley and Heather Estcourt-Cutter, on 16 December 1989.¹

     Major Sir Rupert Howe Bromley, 9th Bt. was born on 31 December 1910.² He was the son of Rear-Admiral Sir Arthur Bromley, 8th Bt. and Laura Mary Dunsmuir.¹ He married, firstly, Dorothy Vera Selby, daughter of Sir Walford Harmood Montague Selby and Dorothy Orme Carter, on 6 June 1935.² He and Dorothy Vera Selby were divorced in 1960.² He married, secondly, Ethel Maud Stephens, daughter of Francis Richard Stephens, on 11 August 1960.² He died on 14 June 1966 at age 55.²
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.² He was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England^G.² He fought in the Second World War.² He gained the rank of Major in 1940 in the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards.² He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1944.² He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Smith, of East Stoke, co. Nottingham [G.B., 1757] on 12 January 1961.²

     Dorothy Vera Selby was the daughter of Sir Walford Harmood Montague Selby and Dorothy Orme Carter.¹ She married Major Sir Rupert Howe Bromley, 9th Bt., son of Rear-Admiral Sir Arthur Bromley, 8th Bt. and Laura Mary Dunsmuir, on 6 June 1935.¹ She and Major Sir Rupert Howe Bromley, 9th Bt. were divorced in 1960.¹ She died in 1982.¹
     Her married name became Bromley.
