He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Macdonald, of East Sheen [U.K., 1813] on 29 June 1832.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Scots Fusilier Guards.1 He held the office of Equerry to HRH The Duke of Sussex.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1865.1
