     Captain Bertram Erasmus Philipps was born on 24 August 1870.¹ He was the son of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best.¹ He married Florence Cruddas, daughter of William Donaldson Cruddas, on 23 June 1914. He died on 10 February 1947 at age 76.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Northumberland Imperial Yeomanry.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) [New Zealand]¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Wiltshire.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Wiltshire in 1923.¹

     Florence Cruddas was the daughter of William Donaldson Cruddas.¹ She married Captain Bertram Erasmus Philipps, son of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best, on 23 June 1914. She died in February 1947.
     Her married name became Philipps.

     William Donaldson Cruddas held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He lived at Haughton Castle, Northumberland, England^G.¹

     Cicely Philipps was born on 12 July 1866 at Warminster, Wiltshire, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best.¹ She married, firstly, William Donald Smallpiece on 9 August 1892.¹ She married, secondly, William Charles Godsal on 29 June 1930.¹ She died on 1 February 1952 at age 85.¹
     From 9 August 1892, her married name became Smallpiece. From 29 June 1930, her married name became Godsal.

     William Donald Smallpiece married Cicely Philipps, daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best, on 9 August 1892.¹ He died on 2 June 1927.¹
     He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.)¹

     William Charles Godsal married Cicely Philipps, daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best, on 29 June 1930.¹ He died on 5 August 1938.¹
     He lived at Haines Hill, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Grace Mary Philipps was born circa 1868 at Warminster, Wiltshire, England^G. She was the daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best.¹ She died on 29 July 1918 at Hotel de Paris, Geneva, Switzerland, unmarried.¹ She was buried at Cimetière St Georges, Geneva, Switzerland.

     Elsbeth Philipps was born circa 1872. She was the daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best.¹ She married Marcus Southwell Dimsdale, son of Robert Dimsdale, 6th Baron Dimsdale and Cecilia Jane Southwell, on 28 August 1902.¹ She died on 3 October 1949.¹
     She was (an unknown value) in 1898 at Newnham College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ Her married name became Dimsdale. She was Assistant Director of Milk, Ministry of Food during the First World War.¹

     Marcus Southwell Dimsdale was the son of Robert Dimsdale, 6th Baron Dimsdale and Cecilia Jane Southwell. He married Elsbeth Philipps, daughter of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best, on 28 August 1902.¹ He died on 28 July 1919.¹
