     Barbara Steele was born in 1913.2 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Julian McCarty Steele and Sybil May Mure.1,2 She married Rear-Admiral Sir Alexander Henry Charles Gordon-Lennox, son of Major Lord Bernard Charles Gordon-Lennox and Hon. Evelyn Loch, on 12 November 1936.1 She died in 1987.1
     Her married name became Gordon-Lennox.

     Maj.-Gen. Julian McCarty Steele was born in 1870.2 He was the son of General Sir Thomas Montagu Steele and Rosalie Malvina McCarty.3 He married Sybil May Mure.2 He died on 13 February 1926.2
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)4 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)4 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)4
