     Major Alan Rees Colman was born on 3 January 1901 at Norwich, Norfolk, England.¹ He was the son of Russell James Colman and Edith Margaret Davies.² He married Hon. Victoria Helen Loder, daughter of Gerald Walter Erskine Loder, 1st Baron Wakehurst and Lady Louise de Vere Beauclerk, on 17 December 1928.³ He died on 17 January 1943 at age 42, killed while ferrying aircraft.³
     He adopted Anthony Hugh Colman.³ He adopted Benedict Colman.³ He lived at South Kensington, London, England.³ He was with Air Transport Auxiliary.³ He gained the rank of Major in the Norfolk Yeomanry.³
