     He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1853 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.¹ He was appointed Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) in 1874.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Stockport between 1874 and 1885.¹ He was appointed Bencher of Middle temple in 1876.¹ He held the office of Recorder of Liverpool between 1885 and 1904.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire, Middleton Division between 1892 and 1895.¹

     Reverend Walter William Hopwood was born on 25 August 1834.¹ He was the son of John Stephen Spindler Hopwood and Mary Anne Toole.¹ He married Mary Elizabeth Rowland, daughter of Richard Rowland, on 5 April 1866.¹ He died on 12 January 1917 at age 82.¹
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was headmaster at Louth Grammar School, Louth, Lincolnshire, England.¹ He held the office of Canon of Lincoln.¹
