He was educated at Tonbridge School, Tonbridge, Kent, England.1 He was educated at St. John’s College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1915 in the 9th Battalion, Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1916.1 He was with War Trade, Intelligence Department of the Foreign Office and the War Trade Department between 1916 and 1917.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Southborough, 2nd Baron Southborough [U.K., 1917] on 17 January 1947.1
