     He was educated at Marylebone Grammar School, Marylebone, London, England^G.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was Senior Moderator in Modern Literature in 1891.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Droitwich between 1906 and 1910.¹ He wrote the book Pleasure and Problem in South Africa, published 1908.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, in 1911 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1911 and 1914, to the President of the Board of Agriculture and Fish.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Luton between 1911 and 1922.¹ He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1914 and 1915, to the President of the Board of Trade.¹ He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Home Department in 1915.¹ He was a member of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat between 1917 and 1919.³ He was Acting Minister of Blockade in 1919.³ He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs between 1919 and 1922.¹ He was chairman of Associated Newspapers.³ He was a director of Amalgamated Newspapers.³ He wrote the book Immortals at First Hand, published 1933.³ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) in 1938.¹ He gained the title of 1st Baron Harmsworth, of Egham, Surrey [U.K.] on 4 February 1939.¹ He wrote the book A Little Fishing Book, published 1942.³

     Emilie Alberta Maffett was the daughter of William Hamilton Maffett.² She married Cecil Bisshopp Harmsworth, 1st Baron Harmsworth, son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett, on 28 April 1897.¹ She died on 4 May 1942.¹
     Her married name became Harmsworth. After her marriage, Emilie Alberta Maffett was styled as Baroness Harmsworth on 4 September 1939.

     William Hamilton Maffett was a practising barrister.¹ He lived at Finglas, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹ He lived at St. Helena, Finglas, County Dublin, Ireland^G.

     Sir Robert Leicester Harmsworth, 1st Bt. was born on 1 November 1870 at Rose Cottage, The Vale, Hampstead, London, England^G.^2,3 He was the son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.² He married Annie Louisa Scott, daughter of Thomas Scott, on 13 February 1892.² He died on 19 January 1937 at age 66.² He was buried at St. Marylebone Cemetery, East Finchley, London, England^G.³
     Sir Robert Leicester Harmsworth, 1st Bt. usually went by his middle name of Leicester.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Caithness between 1900 and 1918.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sutherland between 1918 and 1922.² He was created 1st Baronet Harmsworth, of Moray Lodge, Kensington [U.K.] on 1 July 1918.² He was a director of Amalgamated Press.² He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada^G, in 1927.²

     Sir Hildebrand Aubrey Harmsworth, 1st Bt. was born on 15 March 1872.¹ He was the son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.² He married Kathleen Mary Berton, daughter of Edwin Denny Berton, on 4 July 1900.¹ He died on 18 April 1929 at age 57.¹
     He was educated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ In 1900 he unsuccessfully stood for Gravesend as the Imperial Liberal candidate in the general election.¹ He was editor of the New Liberal Review between 1901 and 1904.¹ In 1906 he unsuccessfully stood for Wellington, Shropshire as the Tariff Reform candidate in the general election.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Harmsworth, of Freshwater Grove, in the Parish of Shipley, co. Sussex [U.K.] on 21 June 1922.¹

     William Albert St. John Harmsworth was born on 19 May 1876.¹ He was the son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.¹ He died on 3 May 1933 at age 56, unmarried.¹ He was buried on 9 May 1933 at Golders Green Cemetery, London, England^G.²
     William Albert St. John Harmsworth usually went by his middle name of St. John.² He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹

     Vyvyan George Harmsworth was born on 16 April 1881.¹ He was the son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.¹ He married Constance Gwendolen Mary Catt, daughter of Charles William Catt, on 6 June 1906.¹ He died on 14 July 1957 at age 76.¹
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps.¹

     Constance Gwendolen Mary Catt was the daughter of Charles William Catt.¹ She married Vyvyan George Harmsworth, son of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett, on 6 June 1906.¹ She died on 17 March 1962.¹
     Her married name became Harmsworth.

     Charles William Catt lived at The Outwoods, Duffield, Derbyshire, England^G.¹

     Geraldine Adelaide Hamilton Harmsworth was born on 27 December 1866 at Sunnybank, Chapelizod, County Dublin, Ireland^G.² She was the daughter of Alfred Harmsworth and Geraldine Mary Maffett.¹ She married Sir Lucas White King, son of Henry King, on 12 February 1891 at Karachi, Pakistan^G.^1,2 She died on 7 October 1945 at age 78.¹
     Her married name became King.
