Thomas Spring Rice, 1st Baron Monteagle of Brandon1 
Thomas Spring Rice, 1st Baron Monteagle of Brandon was born on 8 February 1790.1 He was the son of Stephen Edward Rice and Catherine Spring.3 He married, firstly, Lady Theodosia Pery, daughter of Edmond Henry Pery, 1st Earl of Limerick and Mary Alice Ormsby, on 11 July 1811.1 He married, secondly, Mary Anne Marshall, daughter of John Marshall, on 13 April 1841.1 He died on 7 February 1866 at age 75.1
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Limerick between 1820 and 1832.1 He held the office of Under-Secretary, Home Affairs between 1827 and 1830.1 He held the office of Secretary of the Treasury between 1830 and 1834.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1831.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Cambridge between 1832 and 1839.1 He held the office of Secretary of State for War and Colonies between July 1834 and November 1834.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1835 and 1839.1 He held the office of Comptroller General of the Exchequer
between 1839 and 1865.1 He gained the title of 1st Baron Monteagle of Brandon, of Brandon, co. Kerry [U.K.] on 5 September 1839.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1841.1
