     Maj.-Gen. Frederick Edward Sotheby was born on 30 July 1837.¹ He was the son of Rear-Admiral Charles Sotheby and Mary Anne Sotheby.¹ He married Edith Marion Macmillan-Scott, daughter of Thomas Macmillan-Scott of Wauchope, in 1876.¹ He died on 7 February 1909 at age 71.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived at Ecton, Northamptonshire, England.¹

     Violet Sharman Gicquel was born on 21 February 1893 at St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands.¹ She was the daughter of Toussaint Jean Gicquel and Mary Manning.¹ She married Richard James Clarke, son of William Clarke and Zillah Manning, on 17 September 1913 at Great Easton, Essex, England.¹ She died on 17 April 1973 at age 80 at Ifield, Sussex, England.¹
     From 17 September 1913, her married name became Clarke.¹

     Edith Marion Macmillan-Scott was the daughter of Thomas Macmillan-Scott of Wauchope.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. Frederick Edward Sotheby, son of Rear-Admiral Charles Sotheby and Mary Anne Sotheby, in 1876.¹ She died on 19 August 1921.¹
     From 1876, her married name became Sotheby.¹

     Roger Sotheby was born in 1554.¹ He was the son of Robert Sotheby and Grace Vavasour.¹ He married Elizabeth Hungate, daughter of Robert Hungate and Margaret Thimbleby, in April 1582 at Watton, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ He died circa 21 February 1632/33.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 22 February 1632/33.² He was buried on 25 February 1632/33.²

     Elizabeth Hungate was born in 1562 at Saxton, Yorkshire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Hungate and Margaret Thimbleby.¹ She married Roger Sotheby, son of Robert Sotheby and Grace Vavasour, in April 1582 at Watton, Yorkshire, England^G.¹ She died circa 1 August 1619.² She was buried on 3 August 1619.²
     From April 1582, her married name became Sotheby.¹

     Elizabeth Camplishon married John Sotheby, son of William Sotheby and Dorothy Gray.¹
     Her married name became Sotheby.¹

     Robert Sotheby was born circa 1706 at Yorkshire, England.¹ He was the son of John Sotheby and Elizabeth Camplishon.¹

     Robert Sotheby was born in 1732 at Market Weighton, Yorkshire, England.¹ He was the son of Robert Sotheby.¹ He married Ann (?)¹

     Ann Ringrose was born circa 1794.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Ringrose and Ann Sotheby.¹ She married Robert Constable Sutherby, son of William Sotheby and Sarah Constable.¹ She died circa 1870.¹
