(Conservative) for Stamford between 1895 and 1906.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dumfries-shire.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Peebles and Selkirkshire between January 1910 and December 1910.2 He was created 1st Baronet Younger, of Auchen Castle, co. Dumfries [U.K.] on 14 February 1911.1 He was Member of the Royal Commission on Housing in Scotland between 1913 and 1917.2

Colonel Sir Robert Gunter, 1st Bt. 
Colonel Sir Robert Gunter, 1st Bt. was born on 2 November 1831.2 He was the son of Robert Gunter and Fanny Thompson.2 He married Jane Marguerite Benyon, daughter of Thomas Benyon and Anne Williams Brown, on 20 May 1862.2 He died on 18 September 1905 at age 73.2
He gained the rank of Captain in the 4th Dragoon Guards.2 He fought in the Crimean War.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Knarsborough from 1884 to 1885.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the West Riding, Yorkshire, Barkston Ash Division between 1885 and 1905.2 He was created 1st Baronet Gunter, of Wetherby Grange, co. Yorks [U.K.] on 9 March 1901.2 He lived at Wetherby Grange, Yorkshire, England.2
