Lt.-Col. Sir John Augustus Hope of Craighall, 16th Bt.1
He fought in the Boer War.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Midlothian between 1912 and 1918.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Reserve of Officers, King’s Royal Rifle Corps.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Midlothian and Peebles between 1918 and 1922.1 He succeeded as the 16th Baronet Hope, of Craighall [N.S., 1628] on 7 March 1918.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian.2
