Sir James Stephen1 
Sir James Stephen was born on 3 January 1789 at Lambeth, London, England.1 He married Jane Catherine Venn, daughter of John Venn and Catherine King, on 22 December 1814.1 He died on 14 September 1859 at age 70 at Koblenz, Germany.1
He was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn on 11 November 1811.1 He was Professor of Modern Law at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He held the office of Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies between 1836 and 1847.1

James Kenneth Stephen was born on 25 February 1859.1 He was the son of Sir James Fitzjames Stephen, 1st Bt. and Mary Richenda Cunningham.1 He died on 3 February 1892 at age 32, unmarried.1
