He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for King’s County.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians.)1 He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in the 5th (Service) Battalion, Connaught Rangers Imperial Yeomanry.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Armstrong, of Gallen Priory, King’s Co. [U.K., 1841] on 24 April 1899.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of King’s County in 1914.1
