He married, firstly, Dorothy Hope Franklyn, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir William Edumnd Franklyn, on 23 April 1908.¹ He married, secondly, Gertrude Harpham, daughter of William Howson Harpham, on 27 April 1938.¹ He died on 15 June 1943 at age 59.¹
     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He lived at Dunston, Staffordshire, England.¹

     Dorothy Hope Franklyn was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir William Edumnd Franklyn. She married George Edward Mervyn Thorneycroft, son of George Benjamin Thorneycroft and Blanche Mary Mervyn Archdale, on 23 April 1908.¹ She died on 19 December 1929.¹
     From 23 April 1908, her married name became Thorneycroft.

     Lt.-Gen. Sir William Edumnd Franklyn is the son of Reverend Thomas Edmund Franklyn and Selina Eliza Hope.
