     John Thorne married Anne van Straubenzee, daughter of Charles Spencer van Straubenzee and Anne Theophilia Davison.¹

     Catherine van Straubenzee was born on 11 June 1787.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Spencer van Straubenzee and Anne Theophilia Davison.¹ She married Rear-Admiral Hon. Francis ffarington Gardner, son of Admiral Alan Gardner, 1st Baron Gardner and Susannah Hyde Gale, on 4 May 1809.¹ She died on 15 July 1870 at age 83.²
     From 4 May 1809, her married name became Gardner.¹

     Rear-Admiral Hon. Francis ffarington Gardner was born on 21 June 1773.¹ He was the son of Admiral Alan Gardner, 1st Baron Gardner and Susannah Hyde Gale.¹ He married Catherine van Straubenzee, daughter of Charles Spencer van Straubenzee and Anne Theophilia Davison, on 4 May 1809.¹ He died on 8 July 1821 at age 48.¹

     Admiral Alan Gardner, 1st Baron Gardner was born on 12 February 1742.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Gardner and Elizabeth ffarington.¹ He married Susannah Hyde Gale, daughter of Francis Gale and Susannah Hall, on 20 May 1769 at Kingston, Jamaica.¹ He died on 1 January 1809 at age 66 at Jamaica.¹
     He was commissioned in 1755 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.³ He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1793.³ He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty in 1793.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Plymouth in 1793.³ He fought in the The Glorious First of June on 1 June 1794.³ He was created 1st Baronet Gardner, of the Navy [Great Britain] on 9 September 1794.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westminster in 1796.³ He gained the rank of Admiral of the Blue in 1799.³ He was created 1st Baron Gardner, of Uttoxeter, co. Stafford [Ireland] on 27 December 1800.³ He was created 1st Baron Gardner, of Uttoxeter, co. Stafford [U.K.] on 27 November 1806.³

     Susannah Hyde Gale was born on 3 May 1749 at St. Andrew’s, Jamaica.¹ She was the daughter of Francis Gale and Susannah Hall.¹ She married, firstly, Samuel Turner before 1769.² She married, secondly, Admiral Alan Gardner, 1st Baron Gardner, son of Lt.-Col. William Gardner and Elizabeth ffarington, on 20 May 1769 at Kingston, Jamaica.¹ She died on 20 April 1823 at age 73 at London, England.¹
     From before 1769, her married name became Turner.² From 20 May 1769, her married name became Gardner.¹ After her marriage, Susannah Hyde Gale was styled as Baroness Gardner on 27 December 1800.

     Ellen Henrietta van Straubenzee was born on 30 June 1791.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Spencer van Straubenzee and Anne Theophilia Davison.¹ She married Thomas Holder.¹
     Her married name became Holder.¹

     Thomas Holder married Ellen Henrietta van Straubenzee, daughter of Charles Spencer van Straubenzee and Anne Theophilia Davison.¹

     Hannah Fanny Gregg married Charles Knyvett, son of Charles William Knyvett and Julia Ferrers, in 1859.¹
     From 1859, her married name became Knyvett.¹

     Louisa H. Knyvett was born in 1840.¹ She was the daughter of Charles William Knyvett and Julia Ferrers.¹ She married Thomas Spence.¹

     Percy Gordon Knyvett was the son of Charles Knyvett and Hannah Fanny Gregg.¹ He died in 1955.¹
