     He gained the rank of Captain in the 86th Regiment of Foot.¹

     Johanna Reneira Catherina Cloete was born on 18 April 1855 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She was the daughter of Dirk Cloete and Johanna Reinetta Catherina van Oosterzee.¹ She married Charles Henry Jackson on 29 June 1874 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She died on 12 December 1895 at age 40 at Wynberg, Cape Province, South Africa.¹
     From 29 June 1874, her married name became Jackson.¹

     Antonio Beldazzar Melchior Gaspar Chiappini was born on 24 July 1834 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ He was the son of Alexander Ferdinand Chiappini and Maria Elizabeth Bolleurs.¹ He married Maria Margaretha du Plessis on 20 December 1864 at Paarl, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ He died on 17 August 1887 at age 53 at Blane Villa, Camp Street, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹

     Maria Margaretha du Plessis was born on 31 August 1826 at Paarl, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She married Antonio Beldazzar Melchior Gaspar Chiappini, son of Alexander Ferdinand Chiappini and Maria Elizabeth Bolleurs, on 20 December 1864 at Paarl, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ She died in 1907 at Dutch reformed Church Cemetery, main Road, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹
     From 20 December 1864, her married name became Chiappini.¹

     Alexander Ferdinand Chiappini was born on 22 September 1808 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ He was the son of Anthonio Caspar Melchior Balthazar Chiappini and Johanna Magdalena Heugh.¹ He married Maria Elizabeth Bolleurs, daughter of Johann Michiel Bolleurs and Gesina Johanna Louvs, on 22 May 1833 at The English Church, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹ He died on 14 July 1843 at age 34 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹

     Maria Elizabeth Bolleurs is the daughter of Johann Michiel Bolleurs and Gesina Johanna Louvs.² She married Alexander Ferdinand Chiappini, son of Anthonio Caspar Melchior Balthazar Chiappini and Johanna Magdalena Heugh, on 22 May 1833 at The English Church, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.¹
     From 22 May 1833, her married name became Chiappini.¹

     Alexander Johannes Chiappini is the son of Antonio Beldazzar Melchior Gaspar Chiappini and Maria Margaretha du Plessis.¹

     Janet Kate Harcourt Vernon was born on 27 March 1883.¹ She was the daughter of Reverend Algernon Hardolph Harcourt Vernon and Kate Maria Caudell.² She married Captain Dugald Stewart Gilkison on 7 February 1906.¹ She died on 21 August 1969 at age 86.¹
     From 7 February 1906, her married name became Gilkison.
