Sir James Douglas Wishart Thomson of Glendarroch, 2nd Bt.1 
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Aberdeen between 1935 and 1946.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Thomson, of Glendarroch, Midlothian [U.K., 1929] on 21 April 1935.1 He was chairman of the Ben Line Steamers between 1964 and 1970.1
