John Pitt Dening was born on 21 November 1894 at Jhelum, Punjab, India.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Lewis Dening and Beatrice Catherine Scott.1 He died on 9 April 1929 at age 34, unmarried.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Prince Albert and Victoria’s Own Cavalry.1 He was a polo player for England.1
