He was given the name of John Claud Lawes-Wittewronge at birth.1 He was educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery (SR.)1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Lawes, of Rothamsted, co. Hertford [U.K., 1882] on 8 September 1931.1 On 30 October 1951 his name was legally changed to John Claud Lawes by Deed Poll.1
