     Mary Charlotte Smith was the daughter of Sir Charles Joshua Smith, 2nd Bt. and Mary Gosling.2 She married Lt.-Gen. Gaspard Le Marchant Tupper, son of Daniel Tupper and Anna Maria Le Marchant, on 13 May 1861.1 She died on 22 April 1879.1
     From 13 May 1861, her married name became Tupper.

     He was Colonel Commandant of the Royal Artillery.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1
