     He was educated at College of Saint-Sulpice, Paris, France.² He emigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., arriving on 1772.² He fought in the American War of Independence.² He was Quartermaster-General of the U.S. Army between 1792 and 1796.² He held the office of Chief Burgess of Pittsburgh in 1803.²
