     William Ross was born in 1787.2 He was the son of Hugh Ross, 3rd of Kerse and Janet Campbell.3 He married Helen Elizabeth Drummond Ross, daughter of Lt.-Col. David Ross and Katherine Smith, on 4 September 1830 at Inverness, Inverness-shire, Scotland.2 He died on 19 February 1840 at Berbice, British Guiana.2
     He lived at Skeldon Plantation, Berbice, British Guiana.1

     Lt.-Col. Hugh Ross was born on 26 April 1788 at Scotland.2 He was the son of Hugh Ross, 3rd of Kerse and Janet Campbell.3 He married Eliza Watson, daughter of Major unknown Watson.1 He died in 1838 at Cawnpore, India.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Honourable East India Company Service.1
