     Sir Thomas Nicholas Rivett-Carnac, 8th Bt. was born on 3 June 1927. He was the son of Vice-Admiral James William Rivett-Carnac and Isla Nesta Blackwood.2 He married Susan Marigold MacTier Copeland, daughter of C. Harold Copeland, on 11 June 1977.1 He died on 4 May 2004 at age 76.3
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He fought in the Malayan Emergency, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He retired from the military in 1955, with the rank of Major, late of the Scots Guards.1 He was with the Probation Service between 1957 and 1959.1 He was Vicar between 1972 and 1989 at St. Mark’s, Kennington, London, England.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Rivett-Carnac, of Derby and Warborne, Hampshire [U.K., 1836] on 25 December 1972.2 He was Rural Dean of Lambeth between 1978 and 1982.1 He held the office of Hon.      He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.1 He was commissioned in 1950 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Commander in 1965.1 He was commander of the H.M.S. Dainty between 1967 and 1968.1 He was director of Baring Brothers between 1976 and 1996.1 He was deputy chairman of Barings plc between 1988 and 1993.1 He was director of the London Stock Exchange between 1991 and 1994.1 He was director of Allied Lyons plc in 1992.1 He held the office of Elder Brother of Trinity House in 1992.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1995.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire in 1996.1 He lived in 2003 at Martyr Worthy Manor, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Rivett-Carnac, of Derby and Warborne, Hampshire [U.K., 1836] on 4 May 2004.
