He was given the name of Geoffrey William Ramsden at birth.1 Sir Geoffrey William Pennington-Ramsden, 7th Bt. usually went by his middle name of William.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1925 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 In 1925 his name was legally changed to Geoffrey William Pennington by deed poll under the terms of will of his paternal grandfather’s first cousin 5th and last Baron Muncaster.1 He was awarded the Silver Jubilee Medal in 1935.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Life Guards, 9th Armoured Division and 14th Army of Burma.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Ramsden, of Byram, co. York [E., 1689] on 6 October 1958. On 18 November 1958 his name was legally changed to Geoffrey William Pennington-Ramsden by deed poll.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cumberland in 1962.1
