     Lady Dorothy Shirley was born on 25 May 1683.^1,2 She was the daughter of Robert Shirley, 1st Earl Ferrers and Elizabeth Washington.¹ She married John Cotes, son of Charles Cotes, in 1700.¹ She died on 24 March 1721 at age 37.¹ She was also reported to have died on 3 April 1721.²
