     Merrick Persse Maturin was born on 22 October 1862 at Rathmullan, County Donegal, Ireland.¹ He was the son of Reverend Edmund Maturin and Elizabeth Catherine Persse.¹ He married Elizabeth Knox Warke, daughter of William Warke, on 5 August 1890 at Castlerock, County Londonderry, Ireland.¹ He died on 14 February 1938 at age 75.¹
     He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1880 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)² He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1887 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)²

     Agnes Foulis is the daughter of Henry Foulis of Colinton and Margaret Haldane.¹ She married Reverend Adam Hepburn of Kirklandhill, son of John Hepburn of Kirklandhill.¹
     Her married name became Hepburn.¹

     Reverend Adam Hepburn of Kirklandhill was the son of John Hepburn of Kirklandhill.¹ He married Agnes Foulis, daughter of Henry Foulis of Colinton and Margaret Haldane.¹ He died in October 1602.¹
     He was the Minister at Stobo, Peebles-shire, Scotland.¹ He purchased Humbie and Hartside in 1586.¹

     Sir Adam Hepburn of Humbie was born before 1600.¹ He was the son of Reverend Adam Hepburn of Kirklandhill and Agnes Foulis.¹ He married Agnes Foulis, daughter of George Foulis, 1st of Ravelston and Janet Bannatyne, on 30 December 1629 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He died between 1656 and 1658.¹
     He held the office of Senator of the College of Justice.¹ He was appointed Knight on 15 November 1641.¹ He was Collector-General and treasurer to the Army on 17 August 1643.¹ He was Colonel of the infantry regiment, raised in East Lothian, in General Leslie’s army of the Covenant between 1646 and February 1647.¹ In 1651 he was captured by Colonel Aldriche at Alyth, and sent to London.¹

     Agnes Foulis is the daughter of George Foulis, 1st of Ravelston and Janet Bannatyne.² She married Sir Adam Hepburn of Humbie, son of Reverend Adam Hepburn of Kirklandhill and Agnes Foulis, on 30 December 1629 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹
     From 30 December 1629, her married name became Hepburn.¹

     Robert Arbuthnot, 1st of Haddo-Rattray was born on 9 October 1694.¹ He was the son of John Arbuthnot of Whitehills and Toddlehills and Barbara MacRanald.¹ He married Mary Petrie on 17 February 1719 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ He died on 15 September 1756 at age 61.¹

     Mary Petrie married Robert Arbuthnot, 1st of Haddo-Rattray, son of John Arbuthnot of Whitehills and Toddlehills and Barbara MacRanald, on 17 February 1719 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ She died in 1756.¹
     From 17 February 1719, her married name became Arbuthnot.¹

     John Arbuthnot of Whitehills and Toddlehills was born in 1670.¹ He married, secondly, Jean Dunbar.¹ He married, firstly, Barbara MacRanald on 26 October 1693 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ He died in 1742.¹

     Barbara MacRanald was born circa 1672.¹ She married John Arbuthnot of Whitehills and Toddlehills on 26 October 1693 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹
     From 26 October 1693, her married name became Arbuthnot.¹

     Jean Dunbar married John Arbuthnot of Whitehills and Toddlehills.¹
     Her married name became Arbuthnot.¹
