Herwald Ramsbotham, 1st Viscount Soulbury was born on 6 March 1887 at Wallingford, Berkshire, England.3,4 He was the son of Herwald Ramsbotham and Ethel Margaret Bevan.1,5 He married, firstly, Doris Violet de Stein, daughter of Sigmund de Stein, on 11 November 1911 at Kensington, London, England.3,4 He married, secondly, Ursula Jerome, daughter of Armand Jerome, on 10 November 1962.3 He died on 30 January 1971 at age 83.3
He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, EnglandG.3 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1910 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1912 entitled to practise as a barrister.3 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)3 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
