Sir John Shaw-Stewart of Blackhall and Greenock, 4th Bt.1 
He was given the name of John Stewart at birth.2 In 1752 his name was legally changed to John Shaw-Stewart on inheriting Easter Greenock and Finnart estates from his great-uncle Sir John Shaw of Greenock.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Renfrewshire between 1780 and 1783.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Renfrewshire between 1786 and 1796.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Stewart, of Greenock and Blackhall, co. Renfrew [N.S., 1667] on 20 October 1796.1
