     John Murray was born on 17 November 1817.1 He was the son of Reverend Sir William Murray of Dunerne, 9th Bt. and Esther Jane Gayton.2 He married Caroline Atkinson Swaby, daughter of Joseph James Swaby and Ann Clark, on 14 August 1843.1 He died on 25 June 1879 at age 61.1

     Caroline Atkinson Swaby was born on 16 August 1820 at Newsham Hall, Yorkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Joseph James Swaby and Ann Clark.3,2 She married John Murray, son of Reverend Sir William Murray of Dunerne, 9th Bt. and Esther Jane Gayton, on 14 August 1843.1 She died on 14 December 1879 at age 59 at Bayswater, London, England.2
     From 14 August 1843, her married name became Murray.
