     Jack Henry Edmond Duke, 3rd Baron Merrivale was born on 27 January 1917.1 He was the son of Edward Duke, 2nd Baron Merrivale and Odette Roger.2 He married, firstly, Colette Wise, daughter of John Douglas Wise, on 30 September 1939.1 He and Colette Wise were divorced in 1974.1 He married, secondly, Betty (?) on 16 September 1975.1 He died on 1 November 2007 at age 90.
     He was educated at Dulwich College, Dulwich, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Ecole des Sciences Politiques, Paris, France.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Merrivale, of Walkhampton, co. Devon [U.K., 1925] on 8 June 1951.1 He was president of the Institute of Traffic Administration between 1953 and 1970.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Arts (F.R.S.A.) in 1964.1 He lived in 2003 at 16 Brompton Lodge, 9–11 Cromwell Road, London, EnglandG.1
