     Colonel Hector Mackenzie was born on 24 August 1828.1,2 He was the son of John Mackenzie of Eilenach and Mary Jane Inglis.3 He was baptised on 7 September 1828 at St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 He married Eliza Ann Theophila Jamieson, daughter of Lt.-Col. unknown Jamieson, on 19 May 1855.1 He died on 11 May 1907 at age 78, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bengal Staff Corps.1
