     Lt.-Col. Hungerford Deedes Jackson was born on 2 May 1833.¹ He was the son of Welby Brown Jackson and Katherine Hungerford.² He died on 9 June 1878 at age 45, unmarried.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹
