Lt.-Col. Charles Collier Michell was born on 29 March 1793 at Exeter, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Admiral Sampson Michell and Ann Shears. He married Anne d‘Arragan, daughter of Captain unknown d‘Arragan, on 10 October 1814 at Toulouse, FranceG.1 He died on 28 March 1851 at age 57 at Eltham, London, EnglandG.

Charles Collier Michell also went by the nick-name of Charles Cornwallis Michell.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Battle of Vittoria.1 He fought in the Battle of Toulouse.1 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.1 He was professor of fortification in 1826 at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Surveyor-General of the Cape in 1828.1
