     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, in the Irish Guards.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1

     Emily Jane Wodehouse was born on 7 May 1826.1 She was the daughter of Venerable Charles Nourse Wodehouse and Lady Dulcibella Jane Hay.2 She married William John Legh, 1st Baron Newton, son of William Legh and Mary Wilkinson, on 29 May 1856 at St. George Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 17 April 1901 at age 74 at Belgrave Square, London, EnglandG.1
     From 29 May 1856, her married name became Legh.1 After her marriage, Emily Jane Wodehouse was styled as Baroness Newton on 27 August 1892.
