Sir Denzil Macarthur-Onslow was born on 5 March 1904 at Gisborne, New Zealand.^2,3 He was the son of Francis Arthur Macarthur-Onslow and Sylvia Raymond Chisholm.² He married, firstly, Elinor Margaret Caldwell, daughter of Gordon Caldwell, on 5 July 1927 at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, London, England.^2,4 He and Elinor Margaret Caldwell were divorced in 1950.² He married, secondly, Dorothy Wolseley Scott, daughter of William Wolseley Scott, on 25 September 1950 at Petersham, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.^2,4 He died on 30 November 1984 at age 80 at Castle Hill, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.^2,4
     He was educated at King’s School, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia^G.⁴ He was commissioned on 20 August 1924 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the Militia.⁴ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1943, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.² He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1941.¹ He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (E.D.) in 1942.¹ He was GOC of the 2 Division, Australian Imperial Force.² He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1951.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in 1954.² He was appointed Knight in 1964.²

     Katrina Macarthur-Onslow was born on 8 November 1953.² She is the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Denzil Macarthur-Onslow and Dorothy Wolseley Scott.² She married Sir Charles John Spinney Hobhouse, 7th Bt., son of Sir Charles Chisholm Hobhouse, 6th Bt. and Elspeth Jean Spinney, on 5 June 1993.¹ She and Sir Charles John Spinney Hobhouse, 7th Bt. were divorced in 1997.¹
     From 5 June 1993, her married name became Hobhouse.
