     Lt.-Col. Edward Macarthur-Onslow was born on 1 October 1909 at Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.1,2 He was the son of Francis Arthur Macarthur-Onslow and Sylvia Raymond Chisholm.1 He married Winifred Hall Owen, daughter of William Hall Owen, in 1932.1 He died on 6 February 1980 at age 70.1
     He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1943.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Australian Light Horse.1 He was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (E.D.) in 1945.1
