     Admiral Richard Matthew King was born on 2 November 1883.2 He was the son of Charles Richard King and Mary Elizabeth Davies.2 He married Milly Frances Beatrice Bewes, daughter of Charles Bewes and Frances Soltau, in 1909 at Plympton St. Mary, Devon, England.3 He died on 15 December 1969 at age 86.2
     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1

     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Devonshire Regiment.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1
