     Charles Bewes was born in 1854.¹ He was the son of Charles Theodore Bewes and Elizabeth Soltau.¹ He married Frances Soltau, daughter of John Thomas Soltau and Florence Clark, in 1883.¹
     He lived at Gnaton Hall, Devon, England.¹

     Charles Thomas Anstis Bewes was born in 1886 at Torpoint, Cornwall, England.¹ He was the son of Charles Bewes and Frances Soltau.¹ He married Nancy Krieger, daughter of William Christian Krieger, in 1913.¹ He died on 9 February 1922 at Plymouth, Devon, England.¹
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.¹ He was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.¹

     Nancy Krieger is the daughter of William Christian Krieger.¹ She married Charles Thomas Anstis Bewes, son of Charles Bewes and Frances Soltau, in 1913.¹
